Sa Jules – Everything About Me is Poetic

Sa Jules—known to many simply as Jules—is a woman whose entire life has been a poem. For more than thirty years she has woven her experiences into art: as a poet and spoken-word artist, actress, published author, model, screenwriter, director, producer, radio personality, coach, and entrepreneur. Whether on stage, on the page, or behind a mic, everything about her is poetic.

Origins: Discovering Her Voice

Jules fell in love with poetry at eleven years old. After school one afternoon, she stayed behind with a friend for forensics practice and wandered into a crate of scripts and poems. She pulled out a piece of writing and felt something she had never experienced before—the flow of words like rhythm, the power of language alive. In that moment, she discovered the spark of her lifelong calling.

Her first poem, boldly titled “I Can Date a White Man If I Want To!”, became her debut on the competition stage. She performed it, won, and walked away with more than a trophy: she left knowing she had a voice that could not be silenced.

Raised in an arts school, Jules’ childhood balanced a normal life of playing with friends with the discipline of dance classes, stage productions, and poetry competitions. Her mother was her greatest inspiration, constantly affirming that she could “move mountains” even when Jules doubted herself. Those affirmations gave her the courage to stand tall in her creativity.

Struggles & Transformation

Like many artists, Jules’ journey wasn’t a straight line. Marriage led her to set poetry aside for a time, turning her gifts toward ministry and church service. But the words never left her. They found their way into sermons, prayers, and private writings. Eventually, she returned to the stage with a promise: “I may take a break, but I’ll never give it up again.”

Her artistry is deeply shaped by resilience. Many assume her life has been easy, but she has lived through battles—some self-inflicted, others caused by people and circumstances. Loss, abuse, breakups, betrayal, doubt, and trauma left marks on her soul. Yet every scar became a source of strength, every struggle became a stanza in her story. She says plainly: “Poetry has saved my life a time or two. I know it has touched others as well.”

The Stage as Therapy

For Jules, the stage is more than performance—it is sanctuary. “The stage is my escape from the real world while sharing my real world,” she explains. Each show becomes her therapy session: a place where she lets audiences into her life without speaking to any one person directly.

Her performances are fearless. She blends confession with strength, delivering words that can make audiences laugh, cry, or fall silent in reflection. Among her works, the poem “Life” stands out as the most personal, tracing her journey through pain, retreat, and return. Though she hasn’t performed it in years, it remains one of her most defining pieces.

Her ritual before performances is simple but grounding: prayer, centering herself—and with a laugh, she admits, always a bathroom break to release the nerves.

A Multifaceted Career

Jules’ artistry stretches across forms. She is a published author of JULES., a poetry collection that explores love, heartbreak, despair, joy, and everything in between. Her words on the page mirror her spoken-word style: raw, vulnerable, and unflinching.

As an actress, she has been involved in productions from childhood onward, taking roles in stage plays and community theatre that sharpened her dramatic presence. Acting remains a thread in her creative fabric, alongside screenwriting and directing projects she has produced.

As a radio personality, she brings her voice to conversations that extend beyond poetry, turning dialogue into another form of performance.

And as an entrepreneur, she founded Purple Royale, a business born out of necessity. Dissatisfied with watered-down products on store shelves, Jules began creating her own natural hair and skin care items. What began as personal remedy grew into a business loved by her community. Purple Royale became another expression of her creativity—care for body and soul.

Hosting & Leadership

Jules is more than a performer; she is a builder of spaces. When she moved to a new city, she quickly realized opportunities weren’t handed out—you had to create them. Seeing a gap in the local arts scene, she launched open mics to bring poets back to the stage.

Hosting demanded a different type of presence. “Performing is me doing my set and leaving. Hosting means I’m ‘on’ for the whole event. If the crowd is flat, it’s my job to fix it.” Through hosting, she learned to read audiences, adjust energy, and carry entire rooms.

Her advice to aspiring hosts is grounded in wisdom: “Each show won’t be a sellout. You have to show up whether there are three people or three hundred. They all deserve a great show. With consistency, the people will come.”

For Jules, hosting isn’t just introducing acts—it’s about creating a home for voices. Through her events, she has supported newcomers, empowered veterans, and woven together communities that otherwise might never meet.

Defining Moments

Among her many milestones, one stands out. She was at a festival—not performing, just attending—when someone stopped her. The woman recognized her, asked for a photo, and requested her autograph. “She told me I was someone sent by God,” Jules recalls. That unexpected moment affirmed her purpose: to remind people that words can heal, connect, and carry divine weight.

If she could share her poetry with one person, she says it would be Langston Hughes, the writer who first inspired her imagination as a child. Though he has long passed, his influence still echoes in her voice.

Mission & Legacy

Jules’ mission is clear: to let people know they are not alone. Whether in the intimacy of a poem, the electricity of a performance, or the consistency of hosting a show, she wants her audience to leave encouraged and uplifted.

On stage, Jules is fearless. Off stage, she admits, she carries reservations. But together, those two sides make her whole. Her artistry has always been about truth, and her legacy will always be about voice.

When asked to finish the sentence “I am the poet because…”, Jules answers without hesitation:
“I am the poet because everything about me is poetic.”
